Fender Jaguar from 1963

1963 Fender Jaguar: The most expensive guitar from the catalogue

Awhile ago, I had the opportunity to acquire a stunning pre-CBS 1963 Fender Jaguar. While the Jaguar often flies under the radar compared to its Strat and Tele siblings, it has a unique character and a storied history that make it a coveted piece for collectors and players alike.

What Makes the 1963 Jaguar Special?
Fender introduced the Jaguar in 1962 as a more advanced model aimed at professional musicians, incorporating innovative features that set it apart from its contemporaries. At $379,50,-, it was the most expensive model in the Fender catalogue in 1962! Nowadays, the Fender Jaguar is one of the more affordable models, compared to Stats and Tele’s.

One of the standout features of the Jaguar is its unique pickup switching system, allowing players to access a variety of tonal options. With two single-coil pickups and a series of toggle switches and rollers, this guitar can produce everything from bright, cutting tones to warm, jazzy sounds. The floating tremolo system adds an extra layer of expressiveness, making it a favorite among those who love to explore different soundscapes.

Condition and Authenticity
This particular 1963 Fender Jaguar is in remarkable condition, with all original parts. It has quite some wear, but it has never been modified or repaired, with the exeption of a refret.

As a passionate collector of vintage guitars, I find the Fender Jaguar to be a hidden gem among the iconic models of the era. Its unique history, innovative features, and timeless design make it an essential addition for anyone looking to understand the evolution of electric guitars.
