‘The Les Paul Special combines tone, versatility, a slender neck, and low, fast action at a moderate price.’
This is how the Special was presented in the Gibson catalogue in 1957. It was seen as a stripped-down version of the Les Paul Standard, but in my opinion, it doesn’t fall short in any way.
This 1957 Les Paul Special is completely original: pickups, pots, bumblebee caps, plastics, tuners, etc. The guitar looks stunning under black light and has no overspray or touch-ups.
Once you plug it in, you’ll immediately understand why vintage Les Pauls are so popular: the tone in this guitar is absolutely gorgeous. The bridge pickup has a delightful bite without being harsh, and the neck pickup sounds warm, yet very open with plenty of clarity.
The guitar is in great condition but does show some wear along the edges. It’s just come back from my luthier for a professional set-up and plays wonderfully.
The guitar comes with the original Gator case.
Feel free to come and test it thoroughly. It can also be shipped worldwide. Do you have any questions, or would you like to see more photos of the guitar? Get in touch!
