In 1963, Gibson introduced 10 custom colours. For an extra charge of $15, you could order a new guitar in one of these distinctive colours, such as Cardinal Red and Inverness Green.
One of the most popular custom colours was Pelham Blue. As a result, the Gibson ‘SG’ Melody Maker in 1966 was available as standard in this custom colour, among others.
Here, I have a 1966 Pelham Blue Gibson Melody Maker in beautiful, used but original condition.
Currently, it has a Curtis Novak P90 pickup installed. This is a P90 specifically developed for the Melody Maker, meaning it fits into the guitar without requiring any modifications to the pickguard (or, even worse, the body wood). This pickup offers a bit more power and a fuller sound than the original single coil. If this isn’t to your liking, the original pickup is also included.
It’s a vintage rock ’n’ roll beast: the craquelure, the yellowed Pelham Blue finish, the rich sound, and so on.
The guitar comes with the original Maestro Vibrola and a rectangular Epiphone case.
Feel free to come and test it extensively. It can also be shipped worldwide. Have any questions or would you like to see more photos of the guitar? Get in touch!
