This Gibson B.B. King Lucille was built 25 years ago in Memphis, TN.
The Lucille is based on a Gibson ES-355: a semi-hollowbody guitar with an ebony fingerboard and a Varitone switch. The most notable difference from the 355 is the lack of F-holes – a request from B.B. King himself to help eliminate feedback.
The guitar sounds particularly beautiful and has a great deal of sustain. Thanks to the ebony fingerboard, the tone is a bit more immediate and brighter than guitars with a rosewood board, like the ES-335.
The Varitone offers five additional settings beyond the standard tone, allowing you to adjust the signal frequency. Very versatile and fun to experiment with.
The neck is fairly chunky, with a ’50s-style C-profile. It has low action and plays very comfortably.
The guitar is in very good condition. There are a few light scratches here and there, but the frets are still in great shape and all the electronics work as they should.
Feel free to come and try it out thoroughly. Worldwide shipping is also available. Got questions or want to see more photos of the guitar? Get in touch.
