In the 1950s, Fender Stratocasters came standard with a sunburst finish. While some Stratocasters were built in custom color ‘factory black’, they are extremely rare. This '56 Stratocaster is a reissue of one of those elusive black Strats.
The American Vintage series from 2012 to 2017 is regarded as one of Fender’s finest reissue lines. These guitars feature an ultra-thin nitro ‘flash coat’ finish, period-correct pickups, plastics, and even faithfully recreated case candy.
The finish on this series is quite delicate, but aside from two small dings, this particular guitar remains in excellent condition.
Although Fender describes the neck profile as a ‘soft-V’, it feels more like a substantial C-shape. The guitar is beautifully set up with low action for effortless playability.
